On 11 June 2007 we will be releasing a major upgrade to our registrar systems. This upgrade includes:
- a significant restructuring of all the database systems that underpin our registry support services.
- new Online Services functionality.
- new automaton templates and commands.
The data restructure now provides a fully integrated view of customer data. The benefits of this new data structure are that it:
- is joined-up and reuses data to minimise duplication and administration.
- improves the accuracy of the data we hold.
- will enable us to introduce EPP and more easily add new functionality in the future.
Please note the following:
We will no longer be sending confirmation of registration letters to registrants. On registration, new registrants will now be sent a welcome email with log in details for their new account.
You will now receive notification when a domain name has been moved from your tag rather than a day in advance. This is in response to registrar feedback indicating that these notifications were causing unnecessary delays.
The system improvements do not replace the need for registrants to act through registrars, nor do the changes alter the processes for direct registration and renewal.
For full details of the changes to all of our registrar systems are available on our web site.
What do you need to do now?
The new system will go live on 11 June 2007. Full technical details are available to allow you to take the appropriate action to ensure that you get the most out of this new software release.
- The ‘registrant email’ field will become mandatory for all new registrations.
- If you wish to make the most of the new data structure and automaton changes you will need to activate certain functions and tidy up your registrant data.
